TTS Output: Speech Synthesisers

Robert Mannell

All TTS systems that generate a stream of acoustic parameters will need a speech synthesiser. A speech synthesiser converts a time-varying stream of acoustic parameters into a speech waveform. The exception to this requirement is a waveform based speech concatenation system which directly generates a waveform in the concatenation module. Speech synthesisers can either be in the form of specialised hardware or software.
