Phonetics Tutorial Exercise - 2011

In this exercise you will transcribe a set of sentences using a phonemic transcription. A phonemic transcription is an representation of the phonologically contrastive elements in the spoken language. It is the kind of transcription that you have been practising in tutorials. The symbols to use are those that have been presented in lectures and are available in the LING110 transcription materials on the web. You must access the sound files below to complete this assignment. Click here for information on how to create electronic documents with the correct phonetic font.

Exercise

Each transcribed sentence must be enclosed in slant brackets to indicate the phonemic nature of the transcription.
