Topics and Suggested Study Timetable
The following is a suggested timetable for your study in LING901. The timetable follows on-campus week numbers. The date in the brackets is the Monday of each week and should not be confused with due dates for the various assignments.
There are numerous resources to help you with concept and theory development as well as the attainment of transcription skills. The unit requires the parallel development of both concepts and skills so each week you will be engaged in theory and practice.
Resources for theory are labeled A and B Resources for skill based learning are labelled C and D.
A. Refers to the relevant sections in the textbook.
B. Refers to the theory based webpages.
C. Refers to Tutorial web resources or textbook transcription notes
D. Refers to Textbook Exercises. This is the minimum set of exercises. You are encouraged to complete more than the minimum in order to develop transcription proficiency. All solutions to the transcription exercises are given in the textbook.
iLectures (ECHO360) will be recorded for LING217 which contains some parallel content. LING901 students are invited to share this resource. There are additional Powerpoint presentations downloadable from iLecture most weeks. ilectures are uploaded on Friday afternoon. They should be available for access on Friday evenings.
Some additional tutorial materials are also available. These are labelled C below and can also be found in the table at the end of this page (see below).
