Welcome to Sydney! We are pleased to announce that Macquarie University will host SST 2012. In the spirit of interdisciplinary tradition, we invite you to take part in this exciting event to foster collaboration among speech scientists, engineers, psycholinguists, audiologists, linguists, speech/language pathologists and industrial partners. The conference will also host workshops on speech perception and production.

Registrants are also welcome to participate in the Forensic Speech Science Conference satellite event, which will run concurrently with the SST2012 workshops on 3 December, at the University of New South Wales.

News & Updates

  • 16 May 2012: Submissions are now closed. Many thanks to all who have submitted papers and abstracts!
  • 14 May 2012: We would like to remind all authors that a given individual may be listed as first author on only one paper or abstract!
  • 10 May 2012: Due to some technical limitations, updated the instructions for abstract submissions. Authors who have already successfully submitted abstracts need not resubmit.
  • 2 May 2012: Updated the student section with more detail regarding the process for applying for the student registration scholarships.
  • 21 April 2012: We are pleased to announce that the Forensic Voice Comparison Laboratory at the School of Electrical Engineering & Telecommunications, University of New South Wales will host a Forensic Speech Science Conference on 3 December 2012 as a satellite event to the 14th Australasian International Conference on Speech Science and Technology. This meeting welcomes submissions related to all aspects of forensic speech science, and will run concurrently with the workshops on speech perception and speech production at SST2012.

  • 17 April 2012: Wireless internet access will be available to all delegates during the conference, for no charge. Parking is available on campus for a fee. Parking permits will be available for puchase at time of registration for AUD 5 per day.
  • 17 April 2012: IMPORTANT NOTICE: In reponse to several requests, the organizing committee of SST 2012 will be offering a two week extension to submissions. The extended deadline for both paper and abstract submissions is 15 May 2012, at midnight AEST (UTC+10). Authors of papers and abstracts already submitted are welcome to resubmit.
  • 13 April 2012: Auslan interpreters will be made available for delegates with such needs. Please contact sst2012@mq.edu.au for more details.
  • 21 March 2012: Registration will open in July. Please check back for details! The conference dinner will be held in the evening of Wednesday 5 December, at Manta in Woolloomooloo. Tickets costing AU$100 will be available for purchase at time of registration.

  • 7 March 2012: We are now able to offer three student prizes! Information on student prizes and scholarships consolidated here.
  • 21 February 2012: Important announcement for student authors! We are very pleased to announce that two $500 prizes will be awarded to the top two student authored papers. Please indicate your interest in competing when submitting your paper. Only papers with student first authors will be considered.
